Internal Vs External Antennas on Cell Phones

Here are some thoughts about internal and external antennas on cell phones. Is it true that external antennas picks up and holds a signal better than internal antennas? I was just wondering about the signal strength and quality in the phone, that's about it.

Well, the thing is that technology has come thus far that we no longer require the age-old antennas that the old Nokia's used before. An internal antenna would work just as fine as an external antenna, which however means that you are purchasing a good model phone and not some really cheap model.

A Motorola V3x has an internal antenna, which works wonderfully great. I don't even have any problems with reception, which is amazing!

I feel that an internal antenna is superior to the external antenna in wireless devices. An external antenna can easily get broken or cracked and then your phone is basically useless or should I say ruined. Many of the manufactures' have now gone to internal antennas and the devices are much better than the old external antenna devices. In looking at today's devices, the Samsung and LG phones still seem to have external antennas and the Motorola devices are now all internal.

The Nokia and Sony devices also have internal antennas. All of the PDAs now have internal antennas, including the newer Treos. Sound quality is based on the phone model, itself, but as far as getting and retaining signal strength, I think you will find that the phones with internal antennas, such as the Razr, several of the Sony models and the PDAs are better than those devices with external antennas.

I have looked a several external antennas for my cell phone. (I have a Motorola V120) I noticed that the antenna had a smaller coaxial cable with it. My question is would it be possible to attach my cell phone to the TV antenna or would this make a problem? I can not pick up anything where I live. There are main power lines not to far from my house. I think that prevents me from receiving a signal. If this would not work will the other external cell phone antennas do anything?

Televisions operate in a different frequency range than cellular phones so hooking up to a television antenna will not improve your signal. If you have absolutely no signal at your house and have to travel a distance before you pick up a signal the prospects are grim. If you have some kind of signal outside of your house then an external antenna should help you. In addition to an external antenna an inline amplifier would strengthen your signal ever more.

I have an LG phone using Verizon service. In or outside of my house my signal varies from 1 to 4 in strength even when I'm perfectly still. I don't think the little flat antenna boosters that go behind the battery are working. I mean, my calls are dropping like flies. It's ridiculous!

My advice is for you to try doing a *228 (send) option 2 to your phone. You should consider doing that once a month to update the most recent tower list. However, if that doesn't work, then you should think about purchasing an antenna that does work with your phone. The only thing is that the antenna would need to be plugged in.

How To Lock Text Messages And Instructions For International Messaging

Certain information is needed in order to know how to lock text messages. Information such as the make and model of your phone as well as what you hope to accomplish by "locking your text messages".

However, in any event I can help you through it provided that you are using a Motorola phone. To do it, you simply select the message you want to lock, by highlighting it in the list of messages. Then you can press your 'menu/function' button and there should be the option to lock/unlock the message. Simply select the feature and the message should be locked.

The thing is that by locking the message, it only means that it cannot be changed/modified or deleted. It doesn't mean that it will be locked with a password or something like that. So if that is what you were going for then you would have to use another form of locking.

Keep in mind that we are dealing with Motorola phones here and the instructions that I just gave you above are generic enough to work with most handsets.

Is it possible to text to a person in another country who has their service and not the United States phone service? You will need to register with an online service. Since America uses CDMA and a majority of the rest of the world uses GSM the txt must be translated from one type to another. If you go to a website called http://www.ipipi.com/ it will tell you all about it, and you can then register with them. You send your message to IPIPI they translate it and forward it on to the person you intended it for. There is a minimal charge for the service.

In comparing the 3310 to the 6630, it appears that the 6630 Smartphone gives you several options as it relates to SMS messages, where the 3310 did not. With the 6630, it is my understanding that you need to define the Message Centers first, much like you set up addresses in your address book and then when a person you have in your address book calls you, their name is associated.

In order to view the Message Centre of an SMS message, you first have to make sure that the Log is turned on. On Page 26 of the User Manual for the 6630, it shows how to set this up:

- Monitoring all communication events

- Monitor all voice and video calls, text messages, or data connections registered by the phone, press [the ring looking button] and select Log, and press to open the general log. For each communication event, you can see the sender or recipient name, phone number, name, service provider, or access point

-You can filter the general log to view just one type event and create new contact cards based on the log information. Subevents, such as a text message sent in more than one part and packet data connections, are logged as one communication event. Connections to your mailbox, multimedia messaging centre, or Web pages are shown as packet data connections

How To Download Pictures And Information About Camera Phones

How To Download Pictures And Information About Camera Phones
By: Victor Epand

I'm not aware of any prepaid plans that offer an option through the plan to directly download pictures to your computer. I believe that your best bet would be to determine what phone would allow you to connect it to your computer via USB cable and has PC Suite, for example, and then use the phone's software to download the pictures to your computer. For example, you can purchase a special USB cable for the Motorola Razr that will allow you to connect it to your computer. You can charge it that way and also download the contacts and pictures to your computer.

If your cell phone has bluetooth, you can also purchase a bluetooth USB Adapter (Iogear makes one, model GBU221P) that will allow you to use bluetooth to connect to your computer.

To my knowledge, the cell phone providers do not sell the phones with these cables. You would need to purchase the cable from the cell phone company or a third-party provider. I purchased my Iogear bluetooth adapter at Best Buy.

The cell phone providers want you to use their wireless service to send pictures, because they charge you either a monthly fee for a specific amount of kilobytes or typically $0.02 per kilobyte for this service.
A pixel (short for picture element, using the common abbreviation "pix" for "picture") is a single point in a graphic image.

The more pixels used to represent an image, the closer the result can resemble the original. The number of pixels in an image is sometimes called the resolution, though resolution has a more specific definition. Pixel counts can be expressed as a single number, as in a "three-megapixel" digital camera, which has a nominal three million pixels.

A megapixel is 1 million pixels, and is used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also often to express the number of sensor elements of digital cameras. For example, a camera with an array of 2048 by 1536 sensor elements is commonly said to have "3.1 megapixels" (2048 by 1536 = 3,145,728).

Thus the more Megapixels; results in a larger higher quality image. So you would want to go for a camera with a megapixel display that is 1.2 megapixels or higher. Right now, a really good phone would have around a 2.0 megapixel camera or greater. I havent seen any with a megapilel display greater than 3.1 as yet.

My advice is to go for the Motorola V3X, that is a good phone with a 2.0 megapixel camera with flash and 8x zoom.
Out of two camera phones the Sony K700i would be my personal choice, however, I think you should also seriously consider the Sony K750i, and I have one and the photos are outstanding. The phone is very easy to use and has all the features you would want on a phone!

I have an unlocked Motorola i855 boost with a Nextel SIM card but the picture id feature wont work with my Nextel SIM card, it works with the boost card. Is there anyway I can reprogram to make this feature work with my Nextel card? The next step would be to check the SIM card from Nextel. This is again assuming that the picture id was working with the boost SIM. The only other reason that I can think of is that the SIM card does not support picture ID. That is even though it is a phone feature it is also network dependant.

Thus if it works with the Boost SIM and not the Nextel SIM then, to me that means that the Nextel SIM card is not correctly programmed. This is however all assuming that you have already set the picture id on the phone.

Nokia Accessories Car Charger for Nokia 252, 282, 3360, 3390, 5120, 5125, 5160, 5165, 5170, 5180, 5185i, 5190, 6120, 6160, 6162, 6185, 6190, 7160, 8260, 8290, 8810, 8860, 8890 cellular phone models. It's assembled with a Dynamic Integrated Circuit Chip (IC chip) which ensures that the unit does not overheat and your battery is not overcharged, thus prolonging the useful life of your battery This car charger works with virtually all kinds of cellular phone batteries, including Lithium Ion, Ni MH, and Ni-Cad type batteries One of it's great features is that it performs two functions simultaneously, i.e. provides power to the phone and recharges battery at the same time (thanks to the "smart chip" inside). What this means is that you get to use the phone while battery is being charged thus giving you virtually unlimited talk time When the phone is not being used, you can expect a regular phone battery to charge in approximately one hour. Extended talk thick batteries can take anywhere between 1 to 2 hours to fully recharge with this unit.
